‘You will recall we appealed for members and indeed all independents to write to their MPs, raising awareness of the value that local pharmacies bring to patients and whole communities. We asked you to tell your MP about how your pharmacy has added to social capital – your true stories about supporting people in crisis, about avoiding expensive hospitalisations, about being at the heart of community life. This phase is proving to be highly successful and we encourage you to continue this theme. Why not encourage your staff, your drivers, and families to write? Remember we all have a place in our community and a stake in community pharmacy.
‘Today we are announcing the petition, its purpose and the stakeholders who will be instrumental in making this phase of the campaign a success. But first, let’s briefly recap on the campaign journey so far.

Knowing of these sites poses an interesting question… is the Internetbroadening our relationship possibilities culturally? With the number ofInternet users growing daily and the vast possibilities it offers, the answer isundoubtedly yes. We must also assert that with the amount of knowledge it ispossible for us to access on the Internet, we are becoming more open to othercultures simply because of exposure. The Internet is one of the only things thatties many of our cultures together. It will certainly, at least, make us moreopen and aware of multi-cultural relationship opportunities. With the growingnumber of multi-cultural relationships that the Internet is making possible, itis beneficial to be aware of the cultural differences in relationship mannerismsand expectations that were previously explored in this paper. Not only is theInternet exposing us to new cultures, it is making communication andrelationships possible between cultures.
The Angus Reid Group study also revealed that adoption ratesare very high once users have logged on, people begin using the Internet formany reasons in addition to those that originally made them connect. They haveeven begun using it as a means of meeting people, there are many sites on whichyou can enter a "chat room" and talk privately or in a group. Thismethod of communication rules out all non-verbal communication, people can onlyexpress themselves with written words. Internet communication forces people tobe much more expressive with their writing and leaves much room forinterpretation from others. This makes the Internet a very interesting form ofcommunication.
Along with the trend of meeting people on the Internet, thereare new "matchmaking" sites, which could change the face of dating, aswe know it. This new way of starting a relationship is vastly different thanthat of the past. A completely different courtship process is inherent tomeeting people on the Internet. People may communicate several times strictly byelectronic mail or letter mail before ever speaking. It is also common withInternet dating for people to consider the prospect of a serious relationshipbefore actually meeting someone. This is a far cry from the "standard"form of courtship, which usually begins upon meeting a person.
Hundreds of sites on the Internet are dedicated to helpingpeople find that special someone. Not only are these sites becoming more popularbut they are starting to cover a much broader cultural base. Just by searchingfor a few hours, it was possible to find over twenty sites that were strictlyinterested in matching American men with Russian women. Some of these sites werequestionable, charging men a fee to get the addresses of women in Russia who areinterested in marrying American men. However, quite a few of the sites werenon-profit, most started by American-Russian couples wanting to help others.
